| Location: Chicago,IL,US Member Since: May 11, 2011 Gender: Female Goal Type: Marathon Finish Running Accomplishments: Started running last fall in the Susan G. Komen 10K (55:56) for a family member who was diagnosed with breast cancer. I laughed at myself as "one of those crazy runners," looking down at the pinned number on my stomach and that strange orange loop on my shoe. And then I got hooked :).
Ran my first half in the First Midwest Bank Half Marathon on 5/1/2011. Cut 11 minutes off my 10 mile time within the month leading up to it.
5K PR 23:21.
10K PR 47:36. 10 mile PR 1:24:30.
Half Marathon PR 1:51:07.
Short-Term Running Goals: I am training for the Chicago Marathon.
Half marathon in 1:44:00. Long-Term Running Goals: Dream of Boston, but have to run my first marathon first! I also dream of a 50 miler. Continue to let running be an incredibly positive part of my life that gives me the best natural high and happiness! Personal: I am a martial artist and live alone in Chicago. I will be moving soon (within the next 2 years) to attend graduate school in conservation biology. I also play piano and guitar and love to sing. I am a science teacher to middle school kids and also teach little ones at my dojo. |

| I meant to only run 2 this am because I can feel the soreness of yesterday's speed training. I kept wondering why the run was taking so long and then I realized I had gone way past my 1 mile out and back marker. Gotta take it easy! My new thing is trying to not time my runs- that's hard for me! |

| 1st CARA run of the summer with the new group. It's so different than last year, but we had a ton of fun and I can tell this group is going to be a ton of fun! We were already teasing each other and laughing a lot. |

| Week 2 with CARA. 1:06:00, 9:26 pace. Great run! This was my first good long run since the half on May 12th. Gives me confidence that all will be well. |

| I only ran 2 miles, but they were at sub-6:00 pace, broken up into 200s, so I still worked really hard! Speed training with Coach Leach. Drinks after with Tom, Becky, and Noga. |

| Speed training again, so didn't go far, but ran hard. Coach had be doing "figure 8s," which simulates trail running with hills and different terrain. |

| 1:32:00, 10:30 pace. This one hurt. The heat is on and my legs are sore from speed training. I stopped and played with dogs in the park halfway through :). |
